Thank you so much for sharing this! There is so much truth within this post. I really love this (and we absolutely need more of it):

“For me, it wasn’t enough to simply scroll less. I also wanted to create a gentler, happier place to be online when I was online. I wanted to limit my exposure to upsetting images, videos, and constant news. Curating a positive, nourishing feed takes time, but it is so worth it.”

Sharing this article with my clients! 🌸

"Variable Progress" is really the ONLY kind of sustainable progress! The only requirement is that you keep. on. going. ;) Thank you so much for sharing this guide. I'm inspired to make my own list of "happy places" on the internet to visit...

I decided to not allow certain apps like instagram and facebook on my phone. I only use instagram on my iPad in which there is a time limit as to how much time I spend on it and facebook I only access on my laptop. For me, it's a helpful way to limit how much time I spend on the phone, and social media. Of course, i am always pruning what I follow and feed to make sure what shows is positive and such.

Such a good idea Jack, and something I am seriously considering too. At the moment the focus app in my phones settings is working quite well, it blocks apps so you can’t use them during certain hours.

The pruning and cultivating does take time doesn’t it, but so worth it. Thank you Jack.

I love the idea of bloomscrolling, for anyone who still needs to consume social media. In any case, just creating boundaries with technology as you said is really 80% of the battle won when it comes to reducing anxiety and re-introducing more calm into our lives.

Thank you for sharing this post!

Thank you 💐 it really is, I noticed the biggest shift in my own anxiety when I realised how important peace and calm were to me. Thank you for sharing your thoughts Roxanne.

Such a joy! Thank you for this lovely piece. I subscribed for more of your stories. I love how you emphasized that the digital world can still be uplifting.

It's interesting, people seem more intentional on Substack for engaging with uplifting content. Maybe it's the algorithm or maybe it's just how we're feeling, but the stuff that pops up in my feed is calming.

I look forward to creating a more supportive feel on my other social media platforms. The doomscrolling sucks me in every time on Instagram and even Threads.

Thank you again so so much 💖

Thank you so much Alexis 🙏 so lovely to read this comment this morning, and I'm so happy you have subscribed.

Substack seems so different to other social media, and I love spending time here. It's certainly what provided a lot of inspiration that we could actually curate our own social media to be a much happier, and inspiring place. ✨

LOVELY!!!! I parallel a lot of these feelings, so much so that I recently left Instagram (again) and have a little tray for my phone to "go to bed" in at the end of the night, located in the farthest room from our bedroom. Quirky little fragments of happy internet are so hard to find lately, so taking these steps back feels like the only way we can get our minds back, at least right now.

Emily Male's avatar

Thank you so much 🙏 I've really focused on disconnecting from my phone when I get home at the end of the day, and it's amazing how simply putting it away or ‘to bed’ as you put it helps ! 💐
