Thank you 😊 yes, it's such an important part of Slow Living, listening to yourself so you know what you need the most. Today I've needed gentle vibes ... I hope you are having a lovely Sunday ❤️
This is great Emily! I really enjoy cooking and baking at the moment – I'm getting rather experimental with food at the moment so I'm always excited to try something new in the kitchen 😊
Thank you. Oh same, that is when I started to really love cooking- experimenting and not worrying too much when things didn't work out - it grew my confidence and my instincts in the kitchen.
What a lovely piece! Brimming full of ideas and affirming little things that are already in us but need some stirring and space to come to the surface. I especially like the questions:
- What supplies and equipment do I already have?
- Where/when have I felt most at peace?
- who inspires you & why?
For me, at the moment, it’s walking (and taking time to sit with ) my dog &reading and writing poems. This one feels like a little echo of your creative encouragement…
Thank you so much. I am so glad you enjoyed. I really found those questions powerful too... especially thinking about who inspires me and what it is about them that inspires me. Thank you for the recommendation - I'm heading there now!
So many amazing options and ideas you've outlined here! I really love slowing down by journaling too, it makes you intentionally think about each word that you write on the page.
Thank you ! Me too - it has always been my go to but I have really enjoyed experimenting and trying new things too. Like knitting! It has become one of my favourite things to do just to quieten and focus my mind a little.
This is such a wonderful piece, Emily! 💖 having something to help us slow down and focus on being creative feels more important than ever at the moment. It feels like we’re being intentional in making time for us to be mindful. And I’m so grateful to you for including me here too, thank you so much! 🥰
For sure. I was looking for a way back to crocheting and getting into drawing. I'm one week away from having a lot of my mental energy back (I'm starting a second blog and finishing up a class I'm not loving) and then I'm going to dive in. I look forward to your posts. Keep it up! I love the conversation.
Crocheting is on my 'to try' list this year ... let me know how you get on! Thank you so much, it fills me up with happiness that you enjoy my writing, and I LOVE the conversation too. It is so lovely to connect. Good luck with finishing up your class!
Thank you! I'm one big project away from sweet, sweet freedom. :-)
You know what got me hooked were those big arm-knit blankets that were trending a few years ago. Amazing. Cozy. And a must for winter. Have you tried to make one before? I did. HAHA It was a process.
I love reading, especially how it calms me down and lowers my heartbeat almost instantely. I discovered the extremely positive effects of it after a fight with my boyfriend.
I was really angry and fired up, and in that moment I decided to read. After some pages, while the fury was still raging in my mind, I completely relaxed, got sucked into the story and forgot why I was angry in the first place!
That really showed me how important it is to slow down.
Also making puzzles - I get lost in space and time.
I love you gentle living philosophy. Curious to learn more from you, Emily!
Thank you so much 😊 I hope you do enjoy exploring slow and gentle living with us 🐢 I think it's a game changer to realise that we control our mind and emotions ... It's not something others should have control over. 🙏
Oh wow, that sounds so interesting! Creativity/hobbies is so important and I love the process of finding out what works and really speaks to you and your spirit ✨
I love all of the examples you’ve given. All depends on where I’m at and what I need. So sometimes it’s arts, sometimes movement…. 🥰

I haven't ! But I have seen the videos on socials! I definitely want to try and improve my knitting skills this year ... Devote a bit more time to it.
Oh sweet sweet freedom sounds divine. 💕
Good luck on your journey. To me, there’s something satisfying about seeing something in your head and then holding it in your hands. 💚

This is such a great essay! Thank you. I’m totally a homebody and do many of those activities as much as possible. They are my “therapy” 💛

Great Zen like activities here to help focus your mind! Thank you!
You are welcome :)
Most of those things. I’ve just finished a mixed media course, centred on metal embossing. I have some free online art tutorials to explore.
Oh wow, that sounds so interesting! Creativity/hobbies is so important and I love the process of finding out what works and really speaks to you and your spirit ✨
Loved this, I enjoy outdoors my garden is my happy place. Indoors yoga, knitting and sewing are my go to hobbies. Thank you for your gentle words
Thank you 😊 you have a wonderful blend there of creative thoughtful movement. I really want to improve my knitting this year! 🧶
My favorite hobbies, I would say contempling a landscape with my cup of sacred cacao, walking in nature, and writing here !
They sound perfect! Especially the cup of cacao!
Hehe, do you know about this plant medicine ?
Growing your own herbs and cooking with them is so satisfying, I need to restart this!
I get so much enjoyment out of it!
