Oh you are so welcome, I love the bookish side of Substack and I love your writing! So glad you enjoy Book Lovers Chat, I am so looking forward to having this space to explore more.
I’ve also recently re-connected with my love for books and I’m so happy. I missed it without knowing. I’m not sure why but for a few years I practically stopped reading. Having a baby probably had a lot to do with it. But in April I found Substack - I thought I had found the perfect place for my newsletter and in fact I found so much more! I’ve discovered new authors and so many books and it’s been amazing. And today I found you and your newsletter 😊. Thank you, Emily, for the reading suggestions and I look forward to reading more.
Oh thank you! I am so glad. I love how you can discover different writers and newsletters here, and I have got so many book recommendations also! Writing and talking about books and reading is just as enjoyable as reading itself in a lot of ways. I can't stop myself now I am on a roll. Welcome! And I'm so pleased to have connected with you here.
This is splendid! What a great idea. Thanks Emily! ❤ I'm currently reading 'The Thursday Murder Club' by Richard Osman. I've just started so I can't say much yet. I've also started 'The Four Sacred Secrets' by Sri Preethaji & Sri Krishnaji. It is about living in the 'beautiful state' (instead of living in the 'suffering state'). They teach their four fundamental steps to open our lives to joy, love, prosperity, and purpose. It seems to go a little bit into the same direction as the trilogy of Vex King, but as I haven't read any of these yet and I'm not done with 'The Four Sacred Secrets' I can't really compare it. Furthermore, I'm also reading 'Verbunden' by Anna Miller. It's about how to get back room for the things that you really love in a digital world. It's in German and I'm not sure if an English version is available, but Anna is on Substack as well... so if you're interested, just reach out to her. She definitively speaks English (https://annamillerjournalist.substack.com). Once I'm done with these books, I know where to look for further inspiration... Thank you!
Thank you so much Rebecca. I am so pleased you enjoyed it.
I read The Thursday Murder Club last year and I absolutely loved it, the characters are amazing and I was endlessly impressed throughout that this was Richard Osman's debut novel! I love all you recommendations, thank you. I just love talking about books, so I'm very excited to grow Book Lovers Chat here together!
When I had cable television, it was a tradition to see James Patterson promoting his most recent mystery. He became a television legend and, no doubt, those ads helped him earn millions. I've never been interested in him until now. Dolly wrote a book with him! Is there anything this angel cannot do? I live just north of Dollywood and everyone in Sevier County loves Dolly. Besides being a remarkable singer, writer, philanthropist, great businessperson and instrumentalist, she has the gift of relating personally to everyone in her audience when she performs.. It's magical. Thanks for bringing that book to my attention.
What am I reading? At this time, I am finishing Ivan Antic's SAMADHI and I'm expecting to receive Bill Maher's new book tomorrow.
Well I'm 100 pages in and I'm really enjoying it. I've loved Dolly Parton for as long as I can remember and I've been wanting to reading this book for ages! So far it is not disappointing (though I knew it could never!). I'm so glad to have introduced you to it too!
Oh yes, totally agree! and Summer is the perfect Emily Henry season! I am looking forward to You and Me On Vacation and if I have time this summer I may even squeeze in Beach Read!
Thanks for the shoutout!
