I love Rebecca and Wuthering Heights perfect for Autumn 🍂 you reminded me of Patricia Cornwell I’ve read a few of her books and loved those too! I’m going to read Yellowface next, my son has loads of books so I’m going to borrow his copy, happy reading 📖

Thank you Jo. I am loving Rebecca already! We have gone to Brighton for a few days and I read it all the way here ! It's so atmospheric, I'm so engrossed!!! My late Mum used to love Patricia Cornwell ... I want to reread them all, following in her footsteps. 🙏

I'm so excited to read it too! I've never read it either, I really wanted to read some gothic classics and I'm so ready for it now we are in September! 🍁🍂📚

Wuthering heights is on my list too. Currently reading Essentialism. Lots to absorb so it’s slow going!

I can't wait for Wuthering Heights but I'm going to wait til the weather gets a little more unruly and cold ! I think it will suit the vibes more ! Let me know when you do read it Hayley ? 📚

Yes to slow going! I made loads of notes while reading Essentialism! Loved it 😊

Have you found it’s impacted you long-term?

Yes I’ve just gone and found my journal with my notes to remind me! And I do go back and read them a lot, at the end of my notes I wrote “all of this can be summed up as INSPIRED ACTION” which is something I live by PS the title of my journal is manifest, love all these kind of books 📚

That sounds so interesting Jo ! And I also love the sound of your journal 🙏📚

Hello Emily!

I would like to read fairy tale too!

This autumn I would like to read The Mysterious Case of the Alperton Angels: A Novel (I read the Appeal of the same author and I really liked it!), The Return of Sherlock Holmes (Pretty Books - Painted Editions).

I am searching for something witchy but I have not yet chosen a title. I considered reading a witch's guide to magical innkeeping by Sangu Mandanna since I love the secret society of irregular witches but wanted something a bit more dark but not too much! 😄

Sherlock Holmes very nearly made it into my reading list ... But I will push it back a little !

Fairytale was so good, I really recommend!

Let me know if you find anything witchy ... Have I imagined that Practical Magic was a book ?!? 📚

I believe there are 4 books, the first should be magic lessons and the second practical magic 😊 I would like to read them but my local library has no copies in English so I should buy them 🤔

I will definitely give a try to fairy tale!! Thank you 📚

Excellent reading list, Frankenstein is also on mine for Autumn. Best to be read in one sitting over a dark stormy rainy weekend 😄 The Mysteries of Udolpho is also one of my autumn picks, as it's mentioned a lot in Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey, which I'm currently reading ✨🤓💕

Wuthering heights reminds me of my A level English days. I've never read Frankenstein. Hmm. Feels like a good autumn book.

Well, I'm sorry I'm off to a head start burrowing under my duvet with a good book and a hot chocolate.

I still have a couple of books I borrowed on health topics but I'm going to take a break in autumn and start on more fiction or cosy-feeling books. The hot choc wouldn't pair well with the nonfiction haha.

Enjoy your reading list xx

Some great reads here! Lovely to hear your thoughts on Stephen King. I too haven’t read any of his work but have heard great things, so it might be time for me to have a go… With Tolkien in your Autumn TBR, have you come across Tiffany Chu’s book club here on Substack? She’s about to start a group read of LOTR.

And on my Autumn list is simply finishing all the books I’ve started over summer! I got into a good groove of reading one book at a time before the break but now I’m back to my old ways of having four on the go at the same time and always wanting to start others…!

Oh no I haven't ! I will check that out, thank you Holly !

I'm very eager to read more Stephen King ! I just love how he writes and I've really enjoyed his short stories in You Like It Darker too.

Happy Autumn reading ! 🍁🍂📚

I'm in the middle of "Tress of the Emerald Sea" currently. It has a strong female lead character and lots of adventure. After that I will probably jump into "Verity" as it has been recommended highly. I just purchased a new release by Peter Heller, "Burn," which looks really good, and I have many others I want to jump into (The Binding); who knows what will catch my fancy when I conclude "Tress!" I do enjoy your book recommendations, as I love hearing reviews of books I've not yet read.

I've heard good things about Verity too ... So I'm looking forward to starting that over the Autumn 🍁 I've not heard of Tress ... I'm going to look it up, thank you for sharing 🙏📚
