I love this Emily! Thankyou for sharing this step by step guide. I feel like so many of these things should naturally be a part of our daily routine, yet we fail to recognise it’s importance.

I am excited to have frequent reset days after a couple weeks when some major priorities close!

Thank you Mansi! I agree so important, and I like setting aside specific time, it is so important for my mental health and it keeps me productive and focused on my goals. I am excited for you too, I think they will do you the world of good.

Thank you so much for that beautiful link. You are such a wonderful writer. I'm a retired engineer so I can definitely relate to the toolkit concept. I'm starting on it today. I've been practicing your pottering idea ever since I read your article about it. I have been doing a lot of research on grief, bereavement and pet loss. It has really helped. There are others out there who love their pet as much as I do Tex. It's helping me get over the feelings of guilt for grieving so much over a pet. I've lost pets before but this is much, much different this time. I know some people think it's just a dog. But he's not just a dog. It's going to be very difficult but I am going to try to write a post about that. Thank you so much for your kindness and being so generous by sharing your beautiful spirit. I can't even begin to explain how much it means to me.

Our dogs are our family and the loss is great. You have lots of support here and I'm sure at home too. 💕🙏 Be gentle with yourself

Sorry to hear your story! I unexpectedly lost my cat in 2020. He was just the kindest sweetest soul and I was so connected to him, it was truly heartbreaking. I hope writing about it will help you 🙏

I'm so sorry for your loss. So many people don't understand the loss of a pet. Here is what I wrote last night with many tears. https://cygnusx1.substack.com/p/its-just-a-dog

Great post Emily! It’s made me realise I haven’t been prioritising important things (like a reset day) so thank you for the reminder. Absolutely adore Alice in Wonderland, hope you have the best time reading!

I loved Alice! I really enjoyed the differences between the Disney version and the original story. I am really enjoying classics at the moment! I hope you can plan some reset time in the next week!

thank you Emily! this was so nice and calming to hear your voice!

i love that you mentioned it’s important to brain dump prior to a reset to clear our minds.

Thank you! I find the 'brain dump' is so impactful, if I skip it I really feel it.

Thank you for sharing these lovely, gentle tips for a reset day. I'm not sure I could dedicate a whole day to resetting in the current season I'm in (mama to a little one who is still very much dependent on me), but I will be thinking about how to weave small moments into my days using these tips.🥰

Oh absolutely! You must be so busy! But yes, that's the key... Finding and claiming those little moments of calm for you and doing something in those opportunities that really speaks to you and your heart 💛

Lovely post and so important too! I like the idea of even just a reset morning or afternoon. I’m definitely guilty of sometimes pushing on and through when sometimes what I actually need is to just stop for a moment. Definitely getting better but it takes practice for sure! And takes practice to not feel guilty about it!

PS I really enjoyed the video, you’re a natural 🥰 have yet to read that book but only ever hear good things!

Hayley thank you so much. Sometimes a reset morning or afternoon is just as powerful as a whole day . I think it really depends on your openness going in... I find the idea of 'showing up for myself' gets me into the right mindset and helps subdue those 'guilt' feelings.

Oh thank you!!! I will try and get better ! I had no idea how to 'flip' the camera so the words were the right way round but I'm working on it ! I definitely recommend The Midnight Library.. it had been on my bookshelf for ages !!!!! 📚

A few years back my reset time was Friday evenings! At the time, my weekend was Friday and Saturday so I spent the first part of Friday’s catching up on whatever I needed to do and then in the evenings I would slow down. Baths, face masks, journaling, FaceTiming family, watching my comfort show were some of my favorite things to do!

Now my reset days are more sporadic, but I would love to get back to a set day!

Sounds perfect! I think it is important to make it a regular part of your routine. It feels almost like a you-date. 'Booking' it in, and planning it into your schedule helps make it a non -negotiable.

Emily, I loved the journaling prompts you shared and I think listening to the recording of your thoughts is like being in the room with you in conversation, so don’t worry about it being perfect, it’s perfect just like you’ve been doing it.

Also, I was hoping it would be okay to share one more prompt, that I ask myself, when I’m trying to reset my mindset too ☺️, and that is, I ask, “What/How do I want to be today/or now?” I was reminded of that when I read your prompt asking about five years from now. I think these are all great things to contemplate on, but I like the thought that helps me to shift in the moment too. 😇 thanks for allowing me to share with you here Emily. 🫶🏻

Thank you so much, that's so nice of you to say and really nice to hear ... I'm definitely working on just letting things be and not striving for perfection. Thank you for sharing that's prompt... I love it ! I will definitely use it 🙏📚💞

I had a much needed reset today. My nephew that I hadn't seen in 2 months came and took me out to lunch. My elderly dog has been very sick this past week and I am an emotional basket case right now. I know the end is coming and I am fighting anticipatory grief. Reading your post this morning helped me become almost normal for an hour and feel less guilty about being away from him.

I am so sorry to hear this, I saw the photo you shared in chat this morning. I am so happy my post helped a little bit... Can I also recommend another? I wrote it at a time a couple of friends were struggling/going through a tough time...
