I've had a 'word of the year' practice for many years now. I feel like I'm getting more and more intentional about it each year.

This year, I've chosen Strong.

Your word choice is perfect. Your writing is always uplifting!

Love those bracelets - what a good reminder!

Thank you so much Corinne, that is so kind. Strong is a great word!!! I have never found resolutions very helpful, but having a word really helps me throughout the entire year.

Another lovely and thought provoking post, Emily. Thank you. ☺️

My word for 2025 is joy. I like the idea of the bracelet as a reminder too. I will have a look at the link you shared. Sometimes it's really difficult to find a word but joy kept coming up everywhere in the last few months of 2024 and it's definitely something that I want more of in 2025 so it was a really easy choice. 🥰

I have finally decided on my word. ACCEPTANCE. I have had a lot of challenges to overcome over the years, and have previously tried to set myself goals that should have inspired and motivated me to keep my art business going, to go on holidays, to do all the things I had hoped to do by the time I was 60, but didn't. I'm past that now, and although it sometimes feels to me as if I've given up, I have to accept that most of those things are now unlikely, and I need to find new things I can enjoy. Like writing, gardening, and sharing adventures with my little granddaughter. It also means that I have accepted that I am an artist and writer, that if I allow myself the time and space to do both, I can enjoy them more. 😊

Gail I absolutely love your word 💕 I think it will be such a wonderful companion to you this year. So much of life is learning to accept isn't it ?!? it's a very important piece of the puzzle ! And I really think from what you've said you are going to have a really spiritually and creatively rich year exploring all the wonderful things you enjoy 🙏

Thankyou Emily. I've chosen EMPOWERED. Love the idea of a bracelet 😊 and exploring the different themes for that one word. Definitely something I'm going to explore later today. So much more to this than I expected. 🙏

A synchronicity! I saw the snow clearing up this morning and I could walk in my normal boots again. When colleagues talked about the weather improvement I kept saying the sentence that my mood had been uplifted!

Also good luck and wish you all the best for the new community subscription. I'll have a major financial commitment this year so unfortunately I couldn't indulge myself yet, but I'll keep spreading the word and leaving encouragement here, you're such a kind soul and your gentleness transpires through your words.

Love this Emily, and have done it myself as part of my yoga class start to the year. My sankalpa, as it is sometimes known in yogic traditions is the word "expanding". Enjoyed the idea of a bracelet with your word too. 😀

Also a big fan of the Project You journals, and love that you get a bracelet made! 😊

I hadn't yet chosen a word of the year but drafting yesterdays Substack post, sustainability seemed to emerge, so maybe I'll stick with that! 🌳

Hello Emily, I really love your word of the year! I hope it will accompany you all along this year and brings you joy.

I've not yet chosen my word of the year, might be first time for me but I surely would like to be less judgemental and smile more.

I believe they can both be applied to all the areas of daily life.

Thanks again for your newsletter. Take care! 🌈💕

Balanced is a wonderful anchor to help take you through the year. It was my word of the year a few years ago, and I learnt a lot about myself and my place in the universe that year. Be open, and give yourself plenty of grace, and I am sure you will have a wonderful year.
