So glad to hear you enjoyed Anne of Green Gables so much! I'm visiting Prince Edward Island for the second time this summer (I was a kid the last time) and I can't wait! She's the reason I named my Substack "Notes from a Kindred Spirit." 😊

Oh wow!!!! I would love to go to PEI ... I bet it's amazing. Live the connection with your Substack name. I'm so glad I finally met Anne after all these years ... She may be a yearly Spring read for me 📚 enjoy your holiday in the summer ! Please share photos 🙏🙏

I've been busier this month, but I try to catch up on your posts as much as possible!

I love going out in nature and taking walks to get myself moving and just relax and daydream a bit. It's a wondeful practice to do and almost meditative while picking myself a few flowers throughout spring and summer on my walks!^^

Oh thank you! Walking is such a perfect activity to quieten the mind and awake the senses! I really have grown to love walking more and more as I have got older. I really enjoy living somewhere with distinctive seasons too. Lovely to witness all the changes throughout the year.

What an amazing trip, it honestly looks like something straight out of a fairytale! I recently went away for a solo creative break and there is nothing like getting away to renew the senses and reinvigorate us. You have inspired me to re-read Anne of Green Gables and bring back more of that creative, childlike imagination back into my own daily life - thank you! 🙏

It really did feel like a fairytale! I hope you had a lovely creative solo trip - where did you go? Oh let me know if you do re-read Anne of Green Gables! I loved it so!

There is something so whimsical and lovely about the idea of going to the countryside and absorbing yourself in classics. Thanks, it was idyllic! I booked a beautiful artist owned air bnb in Brighton, definitely got the creative juices flowing. I will do, a bought a lovely old copy from a charity shop ages ago so this gives me a good excuse to read it!

Oh good luck! I would move there in a heartbeat... but Norfolk to Brighton is the wrong way round, if we sold our house we maybe able to afford a tiny box somewhere in Brighton!!!!

This was so lovely Emily! The Tea Caddy looks so magical 😊 I haven't read Anne of Green Gables although my grandma bought me a copy back in 2003 (!) and it's still on my bookshelf – I think you've convinced me to pick it up! 💙

You should definitely come to Prince Edward Island. I’m originally from the UK, but I’ve been here for a few years and it’s a beautiful place. Plus so much to do and see related to Anne. You can fly directly to Halifax, Nova Scotia, from Gatwick in about six hours and then get the ferry over to PEI. My only other advice is avoid August if you can (think Cornwall in the summer holidays), but September is beautiful and there are less pesky bugs.

Oh Jo ... I really think I might! It would be so lovely to visit! Thank you for tempting me further and for some brilliant tips. Avoiding crowds and bugs is always top priority for me!!!

I love slowing down and reconnecting with my peace, but sadly new challenges have consistently been showing up in my life lately and robbing me of the luxury of silence and calmness. This gave me hope Emily. Thank you for your beautiful words.✨

PS: Morgan is my favourite writer of all time and I have read almost every book of hers. ✨

That looks amazing. Here's to imagination and wonder.

My last big holiday was around 8 years ago, at an old station's waiting rooms. Doors to bedrooms were tiny and a strange shape. My eldest felt it was like being in his own hobbit hole. Even he had to duck to get in, and he was around 7 at the time!

The view stretched out to show the sea, the skies were clear, and the moon was bright and full on one night in particular. If we hadn't slowed down for that, it wouldn't have been half as much like a fairy tale. Or hobbit tale!

Your holiday sounds so wonderful. Where was that? I agree- the real magic happens when we slow down enough to notice all these wonderful moments.

Emily, The Tea Caddy looks like the perfect backdrop for reading Anne. Thanks for sharing the beautiful pictures. I loved all the little details of the place: the beautifully crafted wood work, the intricate wallpaper, and that little cute golden bird on the ends of the bed posts are sooo adorable, I have to try and do that to my daughters bed 🥰🐦. P.s. now that you’ve finished the first book, I definitely recommend the old movies made I think in the 80’s titled Anne of Green Gables, they are the truest to the book and such great actress plays Anne. She is perfect as Anne. 🥰

Thank you so much. It was absolutely beautiful. The perfect setting. Oh yes, lots of people have recommended the old movie to me, and the newer series on Netflix (I think!?) I will definitely check them out, and I would like to read more of the books too. It feels like the beginning!
