The world is full of magical things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper and notice them. ~ W.B. Yeats
Hello! I’m sneaking back into your inbox (despite saying I was going to have a couple of weeks off….) to share a bonus Slow Sunday Letter on this Christmas Eve.
As we approach ‘the big day’ … I wanted to take a moment to encourage a little moment of calm, and a reminder of the true magic in little every day moments.
Pure magic isn’t just in the big moments, the big events, the big achievements. True magic is in the every day. In the tiny little moments, most of us don’t notice, but that are with us all through every ordinary and extraordinary day.
Practice noticing the magic, be awake and aware of the signs, symbols, and tiny moments of joy and comfort in your daily life. Do you see them?
Magic Moments
Waking up from a good dream.
Your morning coffee.
Birds singing.
The sun gradually lighting the sky.
Warm socks.
Getting lost in memories.
A walk in the fresh air.
Buying yourself flowers.
Cooking and creating wonderful food for loved ones.
The sound of children laughing and playing.
Discovering a new favourite song.
The first burn of a new candle.
Sinking into a bubble bath.
A belly laugh with friends.
The opening credits of your favourite film.
A moment of calm in the middle of a busy day.
Starting a new diary/journal.
Smiling at a stranger.
Walking hand in hand with someone you love.
Receiving a compliment.
Finishing a good book.
Dancing to your favourite song.
Arriving home and closing the door after a long day.
The hug from a friend, just when you needed it.
Pulling a cosy jumper on.
Cuddles with your pet.
Moving your body.
Receiving an unexpected letter in the post.
Doing something kind for someone else.
Catching a glimpse of the moon shining in the sky.
Daydreaming.
Getting into a fresh cold bed and warming up the sheets.
When you look back, these little moments together will add up to create the tapestry of your beautiful life.
Welcome Magic
“If you’re always racing to the next moment, what happens to the one you’re in? Slow down and enjoy the moment you’re in and live your life to the fullest.” Nanette Mathews
Welcoming more magic into your life will encourage a sense of wonder and gratitude. As you slow down and take the time to notice, you tap into the mysteries of life, with this practice you enable yourself to see more magic.
To find those moments of joy in your every day you have to be going at a pace to notice them. Slow down and look around.
The world is full of enchantment, beauty and joy if we take the time to see it. When you walk this path of embracing every day magic, your life will be lived from a deeper level, with more awareness, gratitude and inner wisdom. You’ll feel more alive and more in tune with the universe and the blessings it has given us.
Please share your favourite small moments of joy in the comments below. Thank you for being here and reading Generosity of Spirit. I appreciate you so much.
To all those celebrating, have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
See you again Sunday 7th January!

Thank you, Emily, for this lovely reminder 🕯 This morning, I awoke at my usual and natural time around 5:00 am and it was pouring down rain here in Jamaica (water is truly a blessing!). Yesterday, my husband got me one simple strand of colorful lights that we put in our potted palm tree (our only Christmas decoration). When I woke this morning and went out into our living hall (that's what they call a living room here on the island), I was greeted by the palm tree with its lights shining against the backdrop of rain. I didn't bother with my usual morning chores, I went straight to get a candle and make a cup of coffee whilst listening to my Grandma's favorite Christmas songs. I sat down in the darkness of the early morning, mug of hot coffee, candle burning, rain falling, Christmas lights twinkling and I thought to myself: this is a magical moment. I am carrying that vibe with me today and wishing the same for you, beautiful soul. 🙏🕯🎁
As always, Ms Emily, beautiful work ☺️ May the holiday treat you and yours with love and peace 😌
