I burned myself out this January. It was so scary to feel my emotions all over the place but then I realised that I can be in control and actually prevent myself from reaching this state. Life is all about the little things. This week, I finally decided to take control of my life and be intentional towards prioritising my mental health. Your post came at such a right time. Thank you, Emily!🤍
I am sorry to hear that Mansi - how are you feeling now? I really hope you have managed to find a little peace and so you can give yourself time to heal from burnout. I am so pleased that this post has helped in a small way. I am always here if you ever want to talk! Take care Mansi.
I’ve spent some time today planning a 3 day at home, mini ‘retreat’ so that I can really focus on my writing. I’m also looking forward to having some time out just for me, and your ‘reset routine’ post was just perfect timing for me! Thank you for all the ideas 🥰
I hope you have a lovely 'at home' retreat and you manage to focus on your writing. I am definitely due another one, so thank you for inspiring me to schedule my next one in! Thank you for commenting, and I am so pleased you enjoyed the post!
I hope you have a fabulous time, and get lots done. It reminds me of a mini writing retreat I took in a cabin out in the countryside. It had amazing views, an outdoor fire, and was so peaceful. I took a bag full of writing things and books. I spent most of the time just sitting outside watching the clouds and poking the fire 😄
Hi Emily, just reading this now, but it has come at just the right time. February has been particularly challenging so the idea of a reset day is looking very appealing right now. I'm thinking a weekly reset day would be perfect. I'm going to work on some of your suggestions and see where it takes me. Thank you so much for sharing, as always I love your writing 😊
I am glad Debbie - reset days (or whatever time you have available) are so important, and can make sure an enormous difference. I hope your reset day delivers some peace and balance for you. I am so grateful for your kind words.
Hi Emily, I have only in recent years found the benefits of resetting regularly, but I do think this is really difficult when you have work, family, and housework to juggle. I think women especially have this ‘need’ to do everything else first and then if there’s time something for their own wellbeing, as if it were a reward.
I find that getting up an hour before anyone else gives me the quiet time to prepare for the day. I light a candle, make a drink, meditate for a few minutes, choose an oracle card and then write my journal and planner. If I wake earlier, it’s bonus time! Then I begin to do the family stuff. I make that hour purely mine.
Hi Gail 👋 you are so right ... Any time for self care, wellbeing or just resting has been seen as luxury and so often put at the bottom of our 'to dos' and even then, as you say, it's only acceptable if there is time after everything else. I think it's important to keep challenging that narrative, and I love your waking hour all to yourself 💕 I think that's a beautiful commitment to you, and your peace. Such a good way to start the day. 🙏

Gail this sounds like heaven, and something I would love to do in the future. 🙏
Thank you, this is such a helpful post 😊
I hope it helps Angela!
I often listen to your Sunday posts while doing reset/pottering activities so this felt very meta in the loveliest way 😂🥰
Oh that is wonderful Lauren, I am glad you listen to it! I hope you don't mind my stumbles! Making time for pottering is the actual best!!!!!!
Oh absolutely not - I have dabbled with audio on posts and appreciate the effort it takes so a stumble is never a bother!
It is, my weekends don't feel complete without it haha x
Thank you Lauren, that is so kind of you to say!
I love a reset day. Such encouraging guidance here Emily, thanks! 🙏✨️
Thank you Hayley 😊 I'm so glad! 💕
