Thank you for these timely gentle reminders Emily 🫶🏼 I think I'm entering my 'saying no' era and secretly loving it!
And I'm gonna journal on this one tonight curled up in bed: "When you picture a slower life, how does it feel?" I want to root more into those feelings today.
Thank you Hannah - I am so glad you found this helpful. I really think journaling is a wonderful place to start! And as always, I am right here for all your slow and gentle living guidance and hopefully inspiration!
Loved this! Have used your journal prompts, which revealed some interesting results. I look forward to taking steps towards a slower, gentler life... starting with blocking out "nothing" time in my calendar 👍 Thank you Emily 💞
That's wonderful Eva ! Putting it at the forefront of your mind, and giving yourself the grace and permission to slow down and decide where your attention is placed is a great way to gently incorporate slow and gentle living. Little by little you'll start seeing more adjustments you can make, more opportunities to invite slow and calm in.
Wishing time to go faster is my guilty pastime. But lately I've been training my brain to enjoy the process... the journey... instead of the destination.
Oh same Sekar! I have been so guilty of this , especially at work. But like you, I am trying to train myself out of it, because it is a waste of our wonderful time! 'The journey, not the destination' is such a perfect reminder.
Oh wonderful, yes book ending the day with some really intentional 'you' time to rise and then wind down is truly the best. I am so glad you enjoyed this.
What a beautiful overview of slow living, Emily! Thank you so much for including The Tortoise in your round-up. There's such a wonderful community of like-minded people here on Substack isn't there?
Thank you so much Brooke! You have been a huge inspiration to me, so that means a lot! There really is so much support in community here, Substack is such a warm and generous space - it has been lovely finding my feet here.
Oh thank you Susan, and I am so glad this post resonated with - I hope it will be a springboard for you to find your own way within slow and gentle living. It really can be life changing, but it is important to take the time to find out what it means for you. I am here if you need any help at all.
This is such a great guide, Emily! Some of my slow living practices have fell by the wayside recently so I've needed a reminder of the slow living fundamentals, thank you so much for providing it 😊
Thank you Leah! I am so glad you have found this useful. I often pull my focus back to these basics when I find myself getting overwhelmed, particularly anxious or ‘going through the motions’ and losing intentional action. I also think life evolves all the time, and sometimes I feel more called to different elements of slow living.
Love the idea of leaving free time, free, and just letting life flow as it may! I rarely schedule time in to do this, so definitely going to give it a go this week 💛

Thank you Emily.
Your post really resonated with me.
Something happened recently in my life that compels me to live simply and with more intention.

Aww, thank you 🙏 I’ve got so much out of writing them too, far more than anything and anywhere I’ve written previously.
What an amazing generous guide and post (thank you too for including Slower Space!) x
