Ahh, what a beautiful read. If more people were making conscious choice to live slower with mindfulness and gratitude, the world would be a different place.

Thank you so much Terje ! I am so glad you enjoyed it, it felt like the time to do a little ‘basic guide’ - I’ve pinned the post to my main page too, so hopefully people will be able to find it quite easily. I couldn’t agree more, living slowly is such a wonderful way to live - I like to talk about easy, accessible roads into slow and gentle living that anyone can adopt. I hope you are having a lovely Sunday !

And the basic isn’t too much. At the same time people still find it hard to follow.. The humans make life more complicated than it needs to be. Go figure. I hope your post reaches the people who need it.

it genuinely upsets me when people just dismiss it because they feel their lives are too busy and it ‘isn’t for them’ - I just hope to show little ways people can absorb slowness and use it every day.

I was walking to work the other day, and it was particularly busy in the city, and I was enjoying it so much because I had to stop often at roads, and crossings - I was just in my own little world (as normal!) but then, I noticed people around me being so impatient. A few people crossing the road in front of cars, or running across when it really wasn’t safe, just to gain a few seconds on their journey. I just wanted to encourage everyone to stop and slow down!

It’s not the world that is busy. The busy is often in our heads. I hope too that the slowness will become more natural. At least it is spoken more about than in the past. (or maybe I notice these topics more) 🙂

I loved this post. I was decluttering while listening to it. I really like the idea of pause breaks and scheduling time to do nothing. 🙌🏽✨

Loved reading this Emily, I agreed with every point you made, especially about decluttering your space. I found this to be one of the most important parts of beginning the journey of slowing down and simplifying. For me it made the biggest impact when I started my simple living journey.

Thank you so much for the recommendation too 😍

This is a wonderful and detailed overview of the joys of the slow-lived life, thank you Emily. I have most definitely felt the benefits in slowing down after experiencing some burn out in my early 30s. I find connecting with the cycles and seasons so beneficial in slowing down and appreciating each phase and stage xx

Thank you so much Lyndsay! I am so glad, I hoped it would be a succinct but accessible overview. I wanted to write it to pin on my main page so it is easy to find for people.

I love that you mention seasons and cycles, I think that is so beautiful and I love building on this each year with my instincts, connections and learnings. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts.

Not sure if I have mentioned this before but have you read Slow Time by the late Waverly Fitzgerald. She was way ahead of her time. It is my slow living bible. xx

Thank you so much Fiona, I haven’t come across it, but I have just looked it up and it looks wonderful! It is going on my wish list for sure! I was also wondering have you received your members letter yet? A lady in the post office helped me at the self service machine, but I was not convinced I was doing it right!

Yes, sorry I meant to message but it has been quite the week preparing for and then living through the storm. My head turned to mush. I loved it and will treasure it xx

oh don't apologise, I was just genuinely a little suspicious of my skill level and the self service machine !!! I hope everything is okay up there and there was no damage after the storm.

We were right in its path so sadly the island got battered. Most without power and lots of damage to properties and businesses. We were fortunate losing just one tree and some guttering xx
