I so appreciate your Slow Sunday Letter, Emily. As an advid journaler I love, too, that you share prompts that facilitate digging into the subject more deeply and personally. 🥰 Thank you!

Dawna - thank you so much. I love journaling too, it helps me sift through my thoughts and get to the heart of how I feel. Whenever I am thinking about something new, or pondering an idea I always look to journal prompts to help me go deeper. I am so glad they help you too!

Love all of the advice and journal prompts. Also loved Eleanor Oliphant. What a wonderful character she is! 🩵

Thank you Pam! I am so pleased. Eleanor is so wonderful! I am sure this may be my third 5 star read of 2024....

Everything you mentioned is how I try to keep my home! Warm, inviting, and cozy. Blankets, candles, plants, nature inspired decor ❤️ I don’t know how people live in houses that look like show homes. They are beautiful, but it just doesn’t feel homey.

I totally agree, and in essence a lot of these slow home practices are really small, easy to achieve, and inexpensive and they are soooo powerful. I like the concept of mirroring your inner self into your living space.

I have to second the declutterring tip. It’s something I recommend to my counseling clients too. It’s easy to forget how much our physical space can impact our mental health, but it very much does. Thanks for the read!

Decluttering is one of my favourite things to do, it is also my TOP pottering activity! I literally cannot relax fully until I have created a calm, clean space. Thank you for reading!

Such helpful and actionable tips for slow living - thank you! I am such a slow living advocate, as I found I needed to offset the fast-paced life I used to live in London (I had to live there for work, rather than out of choice). Now that I’m in the countryside, and spring is upon us, I am so enjoying embracing nature too - and will endeavour to do so more! 🥰

Thank you! I hope it helps :) I like building a Slow community here so we can all learn and be inspired by each other. I bet the countryside is beautiful right now, I love how the world wakes up with Spring. I hope you are enjoying lots of sunshine today.

It's really great to read your wisdom and that of others on here. The countryside is so so beautiful now - it really is waking up, bulbs blooming, trees returning to full leaf... We have had gorgeous sunshine although today is blowing something of a gale, so I think I'll stay inside!

UK Spring weather is the best - we've had a strong winds, a rain storm, hail, thunder and lightening, blue skies and sunshine!

You are wise beyond your years. Every word is golden.

I would only like to add (for your other fans) that Enlightenment is fleeting and if you ever find yourself in an elevated frame of mind, take a moment to soak it in. Mindfulness is all about living slow and, as Solomon advised us (Ecclesiastes 3:12-13) we should relax and love being alive.

Personally, I find the music of Steven Halpern to be very relaxing and stimulating at the same time.

Alice in Wonderland has always been a favorite of mine! I just finished reading The Drowning Woman by Robyn Harding. It’s a mystery/thriller and I enjoyed it. Thank you for those journal prompts as well 💓

It is so interesting how making your bed in the morning sets the tone for the rest of the day. Psychologically, if my bed is still rumpled by mid-morning, we’ll then, so am I! 🙃💗

I totally agree ! I also love getting back into a made bed at the end of the day ... Feels more luxurious, than finding your way back into an unmade bed! 🙏✨

This was great Emily! I'm hoping to move house soon so I'm definitely going to try out those journal prompts 😊 I feel the exact same way about my home – it's like my own sanctuary and I think it's so important that we curate a space that makes us feel safe and comfortable. Also, if you want some more Wonderland, I'd recommend checking out the sequel book 'Through The Looking Glass' as some of the characters that we all know and love from the Disney film pop up in there!

Thank you so much Leah ! Oh thank you for the tip about 'Through the Looking Glass' I will definitely check that out, I am going through a children's classic literature phase... I think I am going to read The Wind in the Willows after Eleanor Oliphant.

Definitely love my home to be clean, tidy and organised. However, I’m naturally messy, forgetful and disorganised so it’s a constant battle alongside my partner being a hoarder it’s a compromise 🤣

I feel you ! My Husband is a recovering hoarder and a LEGO addict ... and we live in a small home! It is a constant balance! I find little and often helps the most.

I was going to tell you that I grew up in the Ozark Mountains. If you want to know what my accent sounds like watch an old black and white episode of The Beverly Hillbillies.

Thanks so much for asking about me. Tex is doing better now. He is eating again and can do short walks. I'm not ashamed to admit that I am going to start seeing a therapist. I have no idea what that will be like but it can't hurt.

Keep making videos! They really add a nice personal touch to your beautiful articles.
